Hey, Switzerland!

Here we are on Day 91 of the Twilight tour with no end in sight. Let me catch you up...

Zurich was a good time, the audience was a little reserved at first but after a few songs and some encouragement they loosened up and started shaking their collective asses. I think we all had a good time there, the hosts could not have been nicer and they kept giving me free hot chocolate all night so that endeared them to me.

Meanwhile, Greg had picked up a bottle of absinthe in Portugal which was unveiled and the rest of the band began to get hammered. Apparently there's a ritual to absinthe drinking that I was unaware of, but the end result was a lot of laughing and wobbling around. Then the boys left Mark and I on the bus while they went into Zurich proper to hit a bar. You can guess the rest...

So then we moved on to Basel to play on a boat for the people. I swear that stage was leaning slightly to the right because of the water, it felt really fucking weird. We kind of had no expectations of the show and lo and behold the locals showed up in droves to see us and the room quickly became a sweatbox that was packed to capacity. That night we unleashed the fury, taking no prisoners and only stopping in the middle of Martin Eden to tell some rude fucker to stop yapping it up in the front while we are trying to play. You know the rules. All in all, one of the more fun shows.

Then we drove to Pukklepop which is a really big festival in Belgium. It was nice to see some friends of ours there and catch up with them, also I got to watch the Frames with Jeff, one of the best bands I have seen in ages. They are from Ireland and I had never heard of them before, but you should do yourself a favor and check them out.

At 9:30PM we strode up onto the largest Marquee tent I have ever seen and took the stage. By our estimate (conservative), around 10,000 people watched us do our thing and after every song they roared back for more, it was exhilarating to say the least. It took quite a while for us to come down after, so we just mingled with friends, talked shit and eventually went back to the bus to watch "The Cell" with J-Lo. It's a weird film, but it was alright. Greg wandered off to watch TV On the Radio and came back declaring it "one of the greatest
performances I have ever witnessed". I think he really enjoyed that show...

So now we are about 30 minutes outside Amsterdam in the studio. I know, "when do you guys take a day off"; you ask? Fucked if I know is my answer...

Tonight, we head to the Lowlands Festival, it's only about an hour away from here, I'm sure we'll see some friends from home there. We play tomorrow then we head off to England, where the beer is warm and the prices outrageous. However, they do have a lot of Twilight fans.

Cheers,

Scott
