![]() | We know a new Twilight Singers album is in the works. We've seen the Facebook images and Scott has teased us with info on his blog. Every Twilight album has been substantially different in lyrical content as well as sonic substance. Where do you think the new album will take us? by Lee on January 29, 2010 2:33 PM |
![]() | Dark and raunchy are the two words that spring first to mind. Perhaps more adjectives will come to me with a bit more caffeine. |
![]() | definitely want to see what the dark shadow in the corner of the room sounds like this next go round |
![]() | Right now, the only thing I'll speculate on the new album is that it's bound to be another Dulli auralgasm. |
![]() | I want to hear slowly moving sound waves with lyrics describes girls from Poland:) |
![]() | wild guess but i'm thinking that the album might have more of a positive vibe. dealing with a rebirth of sorts. focusing on "the ones who fly". |
![]() | Since 'Twilight As Played' is my favourite Dulli album, I'd love him to record something similar one day. Slim chance, I know but a girl can dream... :) To be honest at this moment I'll be happy with anything he chooses to release. I just keep my fingers crossed it won't be another Saturnalia. |
![]() | It's definitely going to be another dark soundtrack for every night. Somebody tell me THE DATE, I' becoming mad waiting. |
![]() | I agree with Gordon. Triumph and positive. The albums have progressive from dark to light. |
![]() | A kiss, a curse, a draw. You people really should be paying more attention to the clues. It's dark majesty and whiskey in hell, served up by the one who got away. |
![]() | I'm with MissD, longing for something similar to "twilight as played" one day. As for this one, I have not a clue. |
![]() | I'm hoping for some Dulli of old. An album along the lines of Black Love. Dark, intense and laced with a subtle dose of sleaze. |
![]() | Something like Black Love would be awesome! by Bre on February 4, 2010 12:24 AM |
![]() | I agree with Renee - dark and raunchy. Something sinful. Greg is at his best when he is unapologetic about who he is. Every album so far has been progressively different. Don't expect anything like what has come before. Remember kiddies: Sir Dulli delivers gold. |
![]() | the devil is in the details replied to The Devil |
![]() | I once met Dulli in chicago at reggies after lollapalooza..I asked him where he was ( mentally/emotionally) while recording black love and blackberry belle..he said that both albums had black in the title...let's hope some of that runs over,as I love to be dragged into his shit storm of emotion, despair and womanizing. |
![]() | Think it has been mentioned that much of the recording has been going on at Joshua Tree / high desert. That has gotta filter into the content somehow..."open space", "sonic remoteness"....Actually, no idea what direction it will take, but can't wait. |
![]() | I think on par with what Dulli said about the GT material in some of the GT interviews we may see a bit more of a search for and interest in transcendence on this one than in previous TS albums. While I don't expect to hear of him ever joining a Zen monastery, I'd love to see a similar sort of progression as Leonard Cohen had, where sex and relationships were the primary venue for questions about life and suffering in his writing for a long time, but slowly that opened up as Cohen was looking more and more beyond that for understanding. And I don't expect this one to be lighter or less dark, Dulli has made a public note of deaths and losses that affected him in the last one to two years, and historically death and loss is what has triggered his darker songs and albums. I also wonder if his interest and pursuit of instrumental and soundtrack work will affect the sound of the album. |
![]() | i know it was'nt twilight but i hope it is more upbeat than Saturnalia. how about a Saturday night album like 1965? |
![]() | "You people really should be paying more attention to the clues." ha. Hello, ominous. I'm not sure I've seen anything I can safely call a clue, but then, I haven't really been looking. Where should we be looking? replied to The Devil |
![]() | Are the clues on their facebook and in the pictures on thetwilightsingers.com??? replied to Renee |
![]() | the pics include steps leading upward. doors and windows. beautiful, pastoral sunny and/or cloudy scenes... i stick by my guess of the album being about a salvation of sorts. replied to Renee |
![]() | I'm not really expecting an album lighter or darker in tone than previous TS albums, but I'd enjoy song more positive in tone like Underneath the Waves. |
![]() | illumination from the source: SPIN: What does it sound like so far? Any specific influences? GD: Seventies AM radio is the operative phase here and there is a heretofore previously unrevealed sense of optimism on this record. It's strange. I've played it for some of my friends and they're like "Wow, you sound happy." I'm like, "I think I might be."
|
![]() | color you vindicated, Gordo. it's worth remembering, too, that even at his most upbeat, Dulli will draw inspiration from La Vie Noir (e.g., "Neglekted" from "1965" among others). And, if the records he's been spinning on some recent DJ turns at the R-Bar are any indication, we're gonna be wiggling our butts when this tour happens. Can't wait. |
![]() | Please please please record Ombretta while you're in the studio. |
![]() | I'm with The Devil. (The story of my life) At least he can make light out good things gone bad. It's all about letting go, moving forward, and living in the present. replied to The Devil |
![]() | I'd like to hear a mix of dark/sleazy material(Black Love, Gentlemen, 1965 & Blackberry). But i'm up for any ride anyway. |
![]() | actually, i wouldn't be surprised if joined a zen monastery at some point. the divine has never been all that far from his walks on the darker side of things, and i think he's been searching for transcendence for a long time. a monastery is perhaps a far leap, but certainly, zen/peace/bliss have all had moments in his music. dulli's a journey man poet, a modern beat poet even - the search for the light, goes along with the dark, hand in hand. could be interesting to see that moved to the forefront a bit. but that said, nothing quite like the dirty, sleazy growl & hammond b3 opening of blame, etc to get you going big time. a nice mix of the sacred and the profane work for me! replied to Stephanie |
![]() | Looks like the mystery guest drummer is Joey Castillo from QOTSA |
![]() | If that's the case i certainly don't hope he'll be joining them live. He's an absolutely awful live-drummer when it comes to keeping the time and the laid back beat. He would totally mess up the golden dynamics and groove, that the Singers have proved to have. When this is said i can't wait for the next album. Nice to have joined the forum, by the way! replied to Buttercup8 |
