SO good to see Dulli doing some press for the new record.

I am thrilled to hear he's taking a bit of a new direction, it's exciting.

Maybe he'll get so 'happy' he does Pussywillow on the upcoming tour. heh heh heh

It will be interesting to hear what they mean by this being a more "happy" record. Even Greg's "lighter" songwriting moments have all been pretty dark. (Which is absolutely fine by me.)

I have always considered 1965 a "happy" album. I know its kind of dark at points, but not on the same level as Black Love or Gentelmen.

I'm looking forward to the 70's AM radio vibe.

If there's a special edition on 8-Track, I have one sitting in my storage space. Think it might still work.

When you think about, there are already songs that would fit into this category - "Forty Dollars", even "Teenage Wristband". But, not to overanalyze... it'll just rock.

the amount of female voices/duets on the album is also a bit of a shift, no? although mr. d has done more with female artists over the past couple of years ("you was for real", nearly's cover of "step into the light", etc.). heck - you could even throw "sweet son of a bitch" in there... :op

im happy to wait a few more months, end of the day is going to be good and no doubt worth the wait dulli doesnt put out shite...'ya know we got saturnalia/live @ triple door & adorata within a year,so at least were not be gunna in for a chinese democracy style wait...although just to add i would love a pro shot dvd in the future!? or even a double album of dulli's outakes (stuff that never made the albums...jesus imagine that),theres a shit load of footage from the powder burns tour out there,be nice to see it packaged..id cough up no problem...and as for the outakes...i think everyone would agree...i enjoyed adorata..it was a perfect companion to the album

hey p.rooney - well said my man!

that's exactly the way I feel. when greg did 'she loves you' i remember hearing that there were outakes from that session that didn't get finished - chaka khan covers, portishead...so i'll flip for anything that comes out. The secondary stuff is always excellent, take adorata, and with lanegan, here comes that weird chill - bring it all on that's what I say, anything from greg will be better than the gen y shite we are tortured with...you hear me brother?

loud and clear man,i think if the time love and effort has gone into them songs ya know even to the point theyve been mixed and mastered but didnt they make the final sequence for whatever reason (continuity/album flow/mood) then they should be heard,as for half finished songs studio jams dont appeal to me.they should be left where they are,its a bad representation of an artist who has high standards which we all know love and expect, its like them achtung baby demos that were leaked way back, sounded piss poor, and for a truely great album, them demos made u2 sound like shit...ya know its like the old wizard behind the curtain illusion...id rather hear what was meant to be heard. so release them outakes already!! MY CREDIT CARD IS WAITING!!!

Outakes would be amazing! I'd pay any money for that. I'm slightly disappointed we need to wait till autumn but I'm sure it's worth it.

dya think id be asking to much if a box set would ever compiled and released, dating back from the whigs right up until the twilight singers/gutter twins and side projects included, outtakes/live stuff and a live compilation dvd thrown in for good mesure..im sure with gregs loyal fanbase we would buy so him and the boys could earn a few quid off it...heres hoping...any way roll on autumn! new record!

I think it's more than reasonable to ask for what you did Paul. Come on mr Dulli, I'm sure you could use a new car or whatever ;)
