Thought it would be fun to post our musical histories here. Some will go back further than others, I'm sure.

First Concert:
Stevie Nicks at the New Jersey Meadowlands arena in 1983. (My dad had to drive my cousin and I from Queens since we had no way to get there.)

First Album purchased with my own money:
Blondie - Parallel Lines (I really wanted to be Debbie Harry at the age of 10)

First CD purchased:
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

First Single I remember:
"Raindrops Are Falling On My Head" by BJ Thomas (Played it on my Radio Shack portable record player over and over at 4 years old. Still have the single in my collection.)

First concert: Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie in 1995 (when I was 12). My mom took me. I went away from it loving Bowie and my mom went away from it loving NIN. Still one of the better shows I've seen. What furious intensity!

First cassettes owned: Snoop Dogg's 'Doggystyle,' Aerosmith - the one with the cow on the front ('Get A Grip,' maybe?), Nirvana, 'In Utero.' I remember getting them in fourth grade.

First music I remember having an impression on me: Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata.' I remember listening to that and one of Bach's 'Invention' pieces on my way to school with my father, at age 9 or younger. Still love classical music.

After years of refusing to take us see the Stones, Van Halen, The Who, etc, my father finally broke and took my brother and I to see The Police with REM opening at the Hartford Civic Center in 1983. Stewart Copeland has got to be one of the very best drummers ever. I can still see that blur of sticks and cymbals and sound...

First album? Funky Favorites - it had Lil' Red Riding Hood and Hello Muddah Hello Faddah - fun for the whole family!!! But, my first album by a band was Destroyer by Kiss. I know that was a gift, but as far as first one bought with my own money, I couldn't say. I was way overboard into rock fandom by age 5 or 6. Hot Rocks (Stones best of) got me off Kiss, though, in about 78. The intro to Gimme Shelter did me in.

Not sure how its even possible to remember the first song I remember, but it would likely be something from the ollllld Chicago albums my Mom used to play the crap out of!!! Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? or Colour My World, those songs always take me wayyy back.

First concert was the Simple Minds (sorry about that) but my real interest in music came along with the Smiths. Too bad I never got the chance to see them but I got over it.

Best concert: Pearl Jam in 1992, in front of 1200 people.

First album, bought with my own money: Pink Floyd's Dark side of the Moon.

Best album ever heard: Gentlemen, Afghan Whigs. Hearing that album always gives me the feeling like a tank bashes it's way through my house with me in it.
